Six New Inspiration Sources for Spring 2021

Spring never fails to bring me a new sense of hope and direction. I mean, our state-wide tornado drill alone forced me to clean out my basement! But truly, with the nearly blooming daffodils and recently open windows at our house came a new wave of inspiration to create, breathe, and make space for the new. I wanted to share some of the things that I’m finding vital to gathering new inspiration this year.

A clean desk space.

Hubby and I have been working (okay, mostly Hubby) on converting this old piano of my grandmother’s into a writing desk for me. We finally finished it TODAY, and I’m so excited to have a cleaned off, neatly decorated space that’s just my own. (My other “desk” is in my kids’ homeschool area and is covered in paint, random snacks, artwork, homework, and curriculum.) If you’re finding inspiration evading you, try cleaning off your desk and sprucing it up with some fresh flowers or new picture in that frame you love.

This adorable mug from Hobby Lobby.

I am such a sucker for a cute, mom-boss mug. Anyone else?

Open. Windows.

I know this isn’t possible for when March/April weather decides to go back to it’s arctic tundra tendencies, but I’ve made a decision to open the windows at least for an hour each day it’s above 50 degrees! The fresh air does me so much good. One of my favorite quotes from Augustus Toplady: “You must continue to breathe afresh every day or your life will cease.” I take this both figuratively and literally! It works wonders.

A good quality planner.

When I write down my goals, be they long-term or short, I’m SO much more likely to actually follow through. I love these fresh looking lemon-themed ones from Target.

Tailoring your social feeds.

That’s right, I said it. Be ruthless. Unfollow any account that does not bring you inspiration or joy! I did this over the course of last year and it was a game changer. I now have my close friends’ accounts, a small handful of small businesses I love to support and several botanical gardens in my area on my feed. Now every time I open up my Instagram I’m seeing what I love and often can bring that inspiration back to my work or play.

Rearrange your furniture.

After three solid weeks of BELOW ZERO weather I was going crazy for a change of scenery. About midway through I changed our furniture layout of nearly every single room in our house! Changing up your scenery or even working more outside can bring lots of new inspo your way.
