There has been a lot of grumpiness going on in our household lately.
Nap time strikes, temper tantrums, and late nights make for grumpy kids and a grumpy mama.
It’s not always easy to be thankful during trials, even (and sometimes especially!) the small trials. No trial is too small for the Lord’s care. In his loving arms, we can embrace gratitude instead of grumpiness, and Philippians 4:4-6 reminded me of this today:
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.”
How hard it is to think of this truth when I feel like turning into the Hulk over shredded picture books.
Sometimes it feels ridiculous to be thankful. To state aloud in the midst of chaos, God, thank you. But the more I thank Him, the more of His power and love I see through my troubles. He is near. No level of grumpiness can edge out His love for us. In our ungratefulness, He is still there, waiting in goodness, peace and grace.
Today I dare you to be thankful. He is near. I dare you to see how gratitude can usher in His grace.
Thanks for the reminder Lisa. We’re never too old to hear this!

A good thought for harvest time! Things don’t always go so smoothly.
