It’s apple season!
Bring on the crisps, pies, bread and muffins! ❤
Bundle and I trekked to the local orchard this morning, and among other delicious produce, picked out seven beautiful apples – all Gala and Jonathan.
We just couldn’t wait to start baking!
As soon as we arrived back home, our aprons were on!
Gluten Free Apple Spice Bread
1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
2 Tbsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. apple pie spice
1/2 c. light brown sugar
2 c. gluten free all purpose cup-for-cup flour
1/2 c. milk
1 small Jonathan apple (or your favorite baking apple!)
1 Tbsp. pure cane sugar, for dusting the batter
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Whisk the eggs and applesauce until smooth and creamy. Add the spices, baking powder, and salt and whisk until combined. Add the sugar and flour, 1/3 cup at a time, folding in with a rubber spatula. Add the milk and the apples last, stirring until all the ingredients are well-mixed and there are no lumps of flour or sugar left.
Grease bread loaf pan and pour in the batter. Dust the top of the raw batter with the cane sugar. It makes the bread sweet and sparkly on top! 🙂
Bake for 50 minutes, or until golden brown.
Allow at least twenty minutes to cool before slicing and enjoying! It will keep well up to a week in the fridge in a sealed container or bag.
I think this bread is just perfect for breakfast, snack time or dessert.
Fall is coming, I can taste it!
